Christina Day
The boys are all back in school and I tweaked my fall part-time work schedule to have Wednesdays off and all to myself from 7:30-2:30. Rightfully so, I call it "Christina Day."
Last week was my very first Christina Day and I was bragging to Cory all the things I was gonna get done. Here was my list:
1. Finish my progress notes for work
2. Go for a walk
3. Use my pilates machine
4. Sort the boys pajamas
5. Caulk and seal our new table
6. Grill up some chicken for lunches the rest of the week
7. Prepare a homemade afternoon snack for the boys
As I was going over the events for the day I assured Cory that taking a walk was definitely the thing I was gonna do first. Because this walk has been a long time coming. Like for three weeks I've been saying I'm gonna start exercising again.
Right off the bat though I was interrupted by my husband. We were running late for school (he takes the boys) and at 7:15 he was still packing lunches and hadn't showered when he needed to be out the door at 7:30 for drop off- and then on to a meeting downtown. So obviously, I eagerly and humbly and with nothing but sheer delight, offered my very first Christina Morning to carpool the boys. I got back at home at 8:30. And shoot I was already an hour behind.
I sat down and hammered out my work notes and was glossing through a blog when again Cory interrupted with a text to tell me about his conference downtown. I think he was picking up on my aloofness because this happened:
Him: Sorry I'll quit bothering you
Me: Thanks.
JK
No I'm not.
Him: I know.
Me: Is your thing over already? That was fast.
Him: Yeah, it's 3 one hour sessions. It was really awesome though.
Me: Oh good. And my blog is almost up.
Him: How was your walk?
Me: Jerk.
But my work notes are done.
Him: :)
Me: And I did pilates for three whole minutes.
Him: Wow, baby! Remember don't try to do it all in one day.
That flirty banter my friends is how you keep a Jones marriage feisty. And to keep a momma sane you need to schedule regular Christina days that look like this.
1. Take the boys to school
2. Piddle online
3. Write a blog
4. Do 3 minutes of pilates
5. Eat a cookie and bag of sun chips for lunch
6. Soak in the tub
7. Visit with a friend about deep things like God, adoption, and urine
8. Pick up the boys from school
9. Grab $5 pizza for an afternoon snack
10. Meet up with another friend and her boys for a playdate
11. Repeat every Wednesday
There you have it. Friends, pizza, cookies, deep talks, flirting with my husband, and 3 minutes of exercise. I have never felt so alive.
Happy Christina Day everyone!!
