Life...

... is what happens while your making other plans.
My Grandma McCarty is the one in our family who is credited with this little morsle of wisdom. (Of course she may have gotten it from someone more famous... or from a country music lyric... or even from a chapter heading of Chicken Soup for the Soul!!) ANYWAYS, I think there is definitely some truth to it. I feel like I am always consulting my planner to see what's coming up in our schedule, what days do I work, do we need child care arrangements, when are the bills due, who's birthday present do I need to mail so that it's no extra extra belated! And I guess that some of this looking towards the future and planning ahead is necessary to be organized and responsible, but I can't help but feel like I'm wishing the time away at present in order to make way for the future. Maybe I'll go rent Newsies tonight and get inspired to "Seize the Day." (I am thinking of the right movie aren't I?) Anybody else ever feel like this?

"Seize the day" is from Dead Poets Society. Of course it might be in Newsies also, but I only watch good movies.

I think Cory is right, but I would rather watch Newsies than Dead Poet's Society! I constantly feel that life is passing me by and we cram it so full of "things" to do that I forget to enjoy the simple things. Our family recently had sickness for 18 days, so we had a major slowdown in all of our events. On the one hand, it was awful to be sick and to be couped up in the house, but a part of me was thankful for the time at home... playing games, reading books, watching movies, and having one-on-one time with my boys.
I just know you are such a fabulous mommy, and no matter how busy you are, the important thing is that those boys know how much they are loved... every.single.moment of every.single.day!

Chris I know just how you feel. I don't do it so much on a day to day basis but more a week to week ordeal.

Dead Poets society has the phrase and message (carpe diem), but Newsies has the SONG, "Seize the Day." Just TRY to not be inspired by the guy from Little Women singing that one. You can't. Your life will be forever changed.

Grandma McCarty sounds like a wise woman. I tend to wish my life away, too.

It was so good to see you at NCYM. Sorry we did not get to visit longer. It is good to catch up with you through your blog. Be blessed.

I can't believe I read this particular post today! I was just trying to convince Stephen to watch Newsies tonight. It would be the first time since we were dating, that's 1998 people!!! Anyway I agree with Mel, seeing those bicycle messengers and sweatshop kids flood the streets is pure television magic. And on the upside for Cory, that's the same actor as in Batman Begins!!
